She studied art education at California State University at Fullerton. She later earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Claremont Graduate University. She has taught thousands of students in the Los Angeles area for over 16 years. Known as an installation artist, her artwork has been exhibited throughout the country and abroad. Ms. Castillo currently teaches in Los Angeles, California as a credentialed itinerant art teacher to 5 elementary schools and teaches approximately 600 students a week.
